Bishop’s House proves a real paranormal treat!

What a truly great night we all had at the 500-year-old Bishop’s House in Sheffield. The property which has never before been fully investigated was full of atmosphere and charm, our guests were fantastic fun and the energy in the place was electric. As the rain poured down outside and beat against the old wooden front door we all listened attentively as museum assistant Rachel told us about the previously reported activity which includes the eerie sighting of a woman in white who so tragically committed suicide by cutting her own throat. As we toured around the unspoilt and characterful house many people reported feeling breathless and oppressed in certain areas. After a refreshment break we all quietly sat in one of the downstairs room in order to see if we could detect anyone with us from beyond the veil. A number of us clearly heard the sounds of a woman talking or humming and everybody’s heart skipped a beat when a loud knock was heard on the window in response to requests for communication. Although the house is set in the grounds of Meersbrook Park we were quickly able to rule out someone playing tricks as there was obviously no-one in the area at the time.
It proved to be a quiet start for some groups but immediately active for others when we commenced our small group séances and vigils. The staff had put electric heaters on to warm the chilled areas and one kept switching off and on which did appear to follow requests. We were reluctant to rule out a natural explanation as we tried to test it to see if the heater shut off automatically on some kind of timer. An identical heater being used in an upstairs room however certainly did not periodically shut off in the same way. So was it paranormal? Who can say but notwithstanding our uncertainty over the cause of this phenomenon it was interesting to note that it had taken place in an area that had been troublesome earlier in the night due to electrical failings. Perhaps some spiritual energy really was trying to use the energy around it to manifest itself and make its presence known to us.
Numerous unexplained taps and bangs were heard throughout the property and what was described as the sound of someone shifting in a chair. A group being led by one of our fabulously talented team mediums, Mel made contact with a character called William. Fascinating table tipping results were achieved all over the house as contact was also made with a sad gentleman named Samuel and a maid who said that she had worked at the house with her husband. Strong odours of freshly baked bread and tobacco and flashing lights were also reported.
Our night in Sheffield was full of attention-grabbing and remarkable supernatural surprises and for many it was as one of our regular ghost hunters described it, “one of the best ever.” We will be back at Bishop’s House on Saturday 19th June should any of you wish to chance a spine-chilling night in this mysterious and captivating property.
