We started the evening's investigation with a walkaround tour of Temple Newsam with Mike Tottey and Richard Felix. This allowed us to survey the four locations in which we would later work, along with a few other rooms. During the tour, Mike picked up on the name "Ludwig" when visiting the Gallery, although the staff had no knowledge of this name. At a later point in the night we did find a leaflet showing previous occupants of the house and subsequently found a "Ludovic".

After a break, we started our investigation in the largest room, known as "The Gallery". This long, wooden floored hall has many windows and paintings, along with rooms at either end. The Ouija board yielded no obvious results - although when questioned it gave the letter "E". Some members spotted the flickering lights of nearby cars and we all heard the shutters rattling. Two members of the group went and sat in the bedroom at the end of the gallery, although experienced no unusual activity. One guest claimed to sense a stern man with a beard.

We left the gallery and moved to the next location known as "The Nursery", a small room containing glass display cabinets, located at the top of the stairs. This location also included the stairs themselves. When transitioning between locations, I noticed a small bright light moving across the wall/window area of the gallery, rather like that of a laser pointer. Another guest confirmed this sighting later in the evening.

In the nursery, we worked with our group around a small table with an upturned glass. The glass did move quite noticably in association with questions asked and we established that we apparently communicated with a male in his 30's who had lived and died of natural causes in the house during the 1700's. A following experiment with table-tipping did not work and so we moved onto the stairs and sat around waiting, calling out and listening. At one point, we all heard the sound of something small falling / bouncing down the stairwell and so we agreed to check on this later. Soon after this, we all heard a noise and a door on the floor below closed partially shut. A similar noise sounded up the stairs behind us. Our guide explained that the doors have an automatic closing mechanism which activates in the event of fire and he also suggested that they could perhaps malfunction if the batteries ran low. Nethertheless, it startled many of us and did not seem to have a logical explanation. One guest saw shadows moving through the night vision goggles and the dowsing rods proved particularly active. We decided to check out the noise of something falling down the stairs and found two tiny stones at to bottom of the stairwell, although we could not find where obvious they had come from.

After the midnight break, we resumed investigations in the oak panelled bedroom. We seated ourselves around the table and began to use the glass to attempt to establish communication. We soon gained some movement with the glass and after asking some slighly provocative questions experienced it flying around the table at high speed. Guests observed orbs moving in the doorway thorugh the night vision goggles. One guest performed a solo vigil in the rooms down the corridor and claimed to have experienced the sound of footsteps and someone sitting on the bed close to her. Other guests though that they heard a moan coming from down the corridor and the lady doing the lone vigil confirmed this. The combination of the glass and the dowsing rods gave the suggestion that the man, under the age of 21, had died at the hands of a known male friend who never faced justice for his actions.

We moved to our final location, the "Still Room", a dark medium sized room on the ground floor. Despite hearing that other groups had had success in this location, the room gave surprisingly little activity. The Ouija board and the upturned glass did not move, although the dowsing rods did twist and turn on a number of ocassions.

As usual, Temple Newsam did not disappoint. Whilst we had variable results with the Ouija and glass work, we did experience the strange occurance of the doors closing, a small object falling down the stairs and a bizarre light phenomena.
